I got in. I went through a gruelling round of auditions that were a challenge financially, logistically and mentally, but I got in to one of the UK’s top five conservatoires. A guaranteed unconditional offer to study voice at postgraduate level. And the first ting I did was cry. With relief that my efforts and my dream of the past 20 years had finally been realised. Who knew that after waiting so long that this process would take me back to my hometown!
I’m an unusual case by musical standards. I’m a mature student with no undergraduate qualification, who has at best studied music on and off over the years, with the most concerted efforts taking place over the past five years. All of these things combined make me all the more grateful and proud. Roll on September 2020!
