Which direction does one go in when the world is no longer as it once was?
It is an interesting dilemma that all musicians are faced with as we remain trapped in an uncertain pandemic. Students are being compelled to think “outside of the box” and create schemes to support a career in the arts. It was always necessary to be a diverse artist in order to put food on the table but now there are no concerts and opportunities for those that weren’t already elite professionals prior to March 2020. It is considerably harder to make connections and the need for an understanding of social media has increased greatly.
We have to believe that the world will return to its former self, or the music may stop. And none of us can live with that. But which direction we go in has certainly needed some thought and forced us to diversify over the past year.
